Skinny models have been banned from Madrid's Pasarela Cibeles fashion show. In order to get into the show models must have a BMI (body mass index) of 18 or more.
Is the fashion industry being used as a scapegoat for illnesses such as anorexia and bulimia? Do people in fashion have a responsibility to portray healthy body images? How many people actually attend fashion shows anyway? Can people look like gazelles? Do we then have to do the same thing for obese models? Should the government get involved? What’s my BMI? Does this article make my gut look big?
