cocaine...

don't mind the idea, but hate the execution.
BORING!

i agree

this seems like a cheep coca cola rip off that they tried to make edgy.

Posted by: kkayir on May 14th, 2007.

hahaha

wow. i'm laughing because it's completly ridiculous. they might as well go all the way and start advertsising for oxycontin energy bars.

Posted by: duckiechica37 on March 23rd, 2007.

cheap & cheesy

effort to make soda sexy... might impress some moms at a shopping mall thou..

stupid, wasteful, not even funny-lame!

Posted by: potsbybay on February 14th, 2007.

Hurdles

With the amount of anti drug messaging out there it would be interestign to see how the marketing strategy clashes with it.

EW

The name of the drink is just LAME. The only people who will actually buy it are those who think drugs are cool but are too pussy to go out and do the real thing.
I can just see grade school kids buying into it. Oh come on guys lets go buy some Cocaine for a recess snack!

Great...

...something else to dull the minds of today's youth. I can see it now, middle school and highschool kids drinking it so they can fit in with the cool kids. I mean, I got into trouble as a kid for snorting a pixie stick at school (yeah I know not one of my brightest moments) but I can't wait to turn on the news one day and see some kid getting suspended for bringing this in his lunch.

I don't know about everbody else but this just seems like a gateway to much worse things, like HEROIN, the first injectable energy drink.

Posted by: ChrisWB174 on October 27th, 2006.

wow.

capitalism at its worst?

Posted by: amberjadetaylor on October 25th, 2006.

...give me strength

you're having a laugh, right? who in their right mind is going to stock cocaine on their shelves?? the fools that buy into this will soon forget it once some other one trick pony appears on the scene. can't believe i'm even bothering..

Unoriginal and bordering on copyright infringement

If you've ever seen Dave Chappelle's ad spoof of Red Bull, called "Red Balls", a crack-laced energy drink, you know that this campaign was ripped-off from it.

Most intelligent generation?

On their website, Redux Beverages claims that they are marketing to the most intelligent, well informed generation the world has seen.

Others still refer to those up and comers as 'the silent generation'. I suppose whether or not they lap up this bullshit will give us some substatial evidence as to who's right.

Looks cheap

Where's the strategy? 'Get jacked up, White Trash America!'

The dirty American flag really seals the deal on this, too.

Posted by: on October 20th, 2006.

really?

if gain is the only reason why we act, humankind is capable to do awful things.
are we talking abou the nature of the product or how effective it is in its communication?
i think over all it is opportunistic and lazy.
where is the responsability in them? then again is bacardi doing the same thing when they air their tv commercials? what about beers? do they fall in the same category? advertising for products that we know to be capable of creat adiction and destruction of our bodies? might wanna check fast food burgers and colas while we are at it...

Posted by: monoalex81 on October 19th, 2006.

let's be honest.

do I agree with it or will i support it? no
does it surprise me? no
is this an effective campaign? Yes, i think it will work very well for the targeted audience.
do you have any idea how many meth addicts there are in the U.S. and in Canada?
It is a very fast growing market , and it alone is enough to make this company a lot of money.

bizarre

The picture of "cocaine" energy drink laid against the American Flag is disrespectful - especially when we are fighting what I think is an unjust, immoral war. It's propaganda! It's glorifying drugs and drug culture.
But at least it's not called "Meth."

Posted by: imisslincoln on October 18th, 2006.

good point

If it was called ecstasy it wouldn't be that offensive, why is that, Or is it just me?. Interesting.

Posted by: cubes on October 18th, 2006.

cocaine

stupid. period.

Posted by: 1234567 on October 18th, 2006.

catchy

i don't know. cocaine? i mean it is catchy and will sell for a little. it should be called ecstacy... provides the same type of energy.

Posted by: wills425 on October 18th, 2006.

cocaine

Rather lame as a brand name. I agree with some of the other comments, not only does the product have no intrinsic value, but by borrowing on the history of Coca Cola; factual or otherwise and properties of cocaine the creators of the message have made it obvious that this is derivative. If they are trying to be "dangerous"....it's an energy drink.

Posted by: smokes on October 17th, 2006.

it'll sell through for a while...

things like this sell through for a while and then disappear. red bull will still be around afterward. this will become a footnote in a marketing textbook someday under the heading of "publicity stunt".

IMPACTANTE

CRUEL REALITY

New times
THE BIGGEST CONSUMERS OF THE PLANET needs new presentations. Ready to drink....
The reality is hard of accepting

Cocaine

I really don't get it!

Posted by: Criscrana on October 10th, 2006.

too easy

i can also market a school lunch called "boogers" and it would do very well with 10 year-old boys, but that doesn't make it good communication. cheap shot, try again satan.

not so fast

It will probably work. How many energy drinks since Red Bull have come out with names you rememember? You remember this name. And the target audience uses these drinks, along with ritalin and adderall instead of coke itself. The drug is making a comeback, so why not offer a safe (relatively) alternative? Somebody was listening closely when they named this product

Posted by: tonyjones on October 10th, 2006.

Unbelievable!

At first I though it just a joke!
No one in his right mind will sign of on THAT! Can’t believe them actually doing it
Completely irresponsible!

Posted by: ArtGirl on October 9th, 2006.

what's going on?

who in their right mind came up with this? I understand that advertising, you come up with a product name that is supposed to be about the best of the best but this is taking it to the extreme. you can't walk around with alcohol label exposed. what makes a drink with a drug reference ok to walk around and advertise/promote?

Posted by: samneang on October 9th, 2006.

Hope their children get hooked

What's next for these morons? Rape Brand condoms?

xy

Great if your target market is people missing chromosomes - then again, the name takes care of that anyway.

Posted by: artaud on October 9th, 2006.

not genius?

it might totally backfire, and looks like with all the negative press attention, it will, but imagine if it became the drink of choice for all the fun-boys and party-hoppers; they would've made a mint!

Posted by: forsoreeyesonly on October 9th, 2006.

what?!

this is unbelievable. I'm stunned !

Posted by: becmaxwell on October 9th, 2006.

BTW

F@%$^& YOU Redux Beverages based in Las Vegas, NV.

Posted by: cubes on October 8th, 2006.

wow.

It is so clear the quadrant this will fall soon.... very close to the bottom and one square to the right. Talking about irresponsible people. Impressive.
