agreed

there is a little more to the issue than strangers, but effective spots nonetheless.

eh

good idea. great commercial. but just like roxie said: theres a lot of other things at play. other than that i think its a great campaign

good but...

from a pure "no one has a right to treat you this way" perspective, i think these are fantastic but...

my understanding of domestic violence (and i'm no expert) but that a lot of those issues of staying in an abusive relationship center around the "love"/dependency aspect. by having the woman be abused by total strangers, does it address what really needs to be addressed?

i think that people in abusive relationships know that its wrong in their gut, but there's lots of other stuff at play.

humhum

a belgian agency made a similar ad for the society for prevention of domestic violence, with the violence being showed alot more subtly but just a shocking...Maybe a little too easy...

not disturbing

hilarious to me, the jack ass; but I think it shocks you enough and communicates well enough... I love it. Easy to understand.

east coast initiative

from what I remember, this was from the westchester, NY branch of My Sister's Place so it would be reasonable to assume this was an east-coast, even tri-state area initiative. I'm not sure what the different reception would've been in "middle america", I know what you are trying to get at; that perhaps this display of violence is commonplace in a state that say, still permitted paddling or corporal punishment whereas in a northern or especially northeastern state, we've already become very "PC" about this sort of display? but I'm pretty sure that universal disgust would greet this commercial, no matter where it aired and in that sense, be equally effective.

Effective, but nationally versatile?

I'm curious to know: in which what markets has this spot aired? The message is wonderfully effective if strongly communicated, but while I believe that it is appropriate for coastal city audiences, will it register as overly shocking to middle American sensibilities? I am most interested in this ad’s effective placement: I think it’s a brilliant spot.

Great

I don't understand confused's comment of it being disturbing. It deals with a very complex issue of what basically goes on in daily life...It is as very real as a breath of air.

I haven't seen an advertisment this, real, grand, ground-breaking, and to the point in a while. It needs to be shown so that the victims in these abusive relationships understand what is acceptable and what is not.

My only thing is that the Girl on Girl issue be just as dramatic.

what he said, sorta

I agree with euroskip about the shocking aspect of the spots. They will definitely get and hold attention. I'm okay with the copy. Seems like they tried to keep it as minimal as possible. It's a succinct payoff to the action that went before. I especially like the barebones production techniques--no music, minimal editing, documentary feel. Makes the net effect more dramatic. Nice perfromances from the actors, too.

forgot

the copy is kinda weak, though.
