because it helps to lend credibility to the piece. Great cause, but shitty looking. c’mon, now.

ADs suck
when you have a message that's clear and frighteningly honest like this one, who cares about the purple type? ADs are overrated and apparently i am one. get the message out there, don't make a skin texture to lockup the type and make it more ownable.

I believe...
That, Toscani Just took the picture.
If you get away from the incredibly horrendous art direction, you can see again the power of using advertising to raise a taboo to the surface. And that in it self (believe it or not) is powerful…. still.
The use of pain juxtaposed by the beauty of the image reminds me to the work of Salgado, but the gray background just make everything go straight to hack.
I just wish to meet the modafucker ( Oliviero ) so I can start seeing him as a human and start to criticize him more strongly.
(but if there is a microphone here…. I looooove this badly produce “I want to be Benetton” campaign)

i'm a sucker for toscani
i'll admit it, i reviewed this and landed it half way to hack and dead center between heaven and hell. the design is so dated, bad type, and typical shock visuals. but then... just as i hit submit, i read the caption that toscani shot it, and i have to admit to second guessing my review. i wanted to think it was good. how can toscani do wrong? but then i thought, if an art director sitting next to me did this, i'd refer to it as crap and obvious. sorry toscani...
maybe i wouldn't hate it if it didn't have the play on words from their name, not sure...but we should totally discuss this. cubes, i'm waiting...
The purple type matters
